According to a recent study, Nintendo’s Mario Kart is the video game that can increase the heart rate of the player the most. If you play it, your pulse might increase by 32.81% over half an hour. This makes it the most stressful game that a gamer can play.

To determine which game is most stressful and difficult, the study included games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Grand Theft Auto, Skyrim, and more. The researchers measured the heart rates of gamers using high-quality heart rate monitors. They discovered that Mario Kart increased pulse rates by an average of 21 beats per minute, or close to 33%.

The game right behind it is the famous soccer simulator FIFA. It increases the heart rate by 31%, and after this is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare by 30%, Dark Souls III by a 28% increase, and Fortnite by 5%. This percentage of heart rate increase (33%) is the equivalent of the increase in heart rate during a brisk walk. Even after three decades, it’s still a classic, according to Managing Director Fintan Costello, who conducted the study.

Mario Kart Is a Timeless Classic

Fintan said that for those who are looking to play one true timeless classic, Mario Kart is still a favorite among players. He also revealed that what the study showed is quite amazing, as gamers still find the old Nintendo game irresistible, even though brand new Triple-A games with better graphics are being released every year. It turns out that nothing can replace the danger of a red shell on the final lap of the race.

Did you know that some games can lower your heart rate? Animal Crossing, The Sims, and Skyrim might do this to you. It’s interesting to see Skyrim lowering the gamer’s heart rate, as you play an actual dragon slayer that takes the souls of monsters.
