Businesses Entertain Locals With Messages for Their Sign War
DQ responded to McDonald’s by putting up a message on their own marquee, saying that they were too busy making ice cream to have a sign war. While at first the bantering signs were focused on ice cream, things have spiraled out to other establishments that wanted in on the fun. Businesses got creative with their poster boards and print-outs, joining in on the sign war. SignEffx, which is a business focused on printing banners and decal wrap, put out a new banner that stated how they were disappointed not to be invited to the sign war and pointed out that they made the best signs in town.
The City of Marshfield Has Enjoyed a Lot of Attention Due to the Sign War
While it did entertain the locals of the city of Marshfield, the situation was great for the community because it got a lot of attention on social media sites like Facebook. Apparently, the Marshfield, MO sign war had reached over a million people on Facebook and many had fun watching the signs change.
According to Randy Bryant, Director of Operations at the McDonald’s who started the sign war, Marshfield was a close community, and everyone was like family there. Therefore, an employee known as Mario gave the idea for a sign war to have some fun as a community. According to Mario, it was hot and the world was throwing challenges and negativity at everyone, so a sign war looked like a great way to spread laughter around the community. Since the sign war became popular online, many commentators have commented on social media and started having fun designating the winners, although a consensus was hardly ever reached.
